My Favorite Cake

This beauty was for a repeat client in Jamestown, RI. She wanted a "winter wonderland" theme and this snowglobe concept was the sketch she chose.

Inside the glass globe (fishbowl from Michael's) the snowman (RKT covered in white chocolate) is accompanied with his furred and feathered winter companions.

The 4-layer cake was iced with Oreo IMBC.  All decorations, animals, bow, excepting the glass bowl (of course) are edible.

The birthday girl did not like fondant, so the cake covering is modeling chocolate. I piped snowflakes along cake body and dusted it with sanding sugar.

This was by far the most fun I have had in creating custom cakes.  It was a blast!

GOAL!

This was my last cake order in Rhode Island before I packed up all the supplies and flipped the open sign, so to speak.

Double-layer round chiffon cake with vanilla IBCM and the shoe was also made from cake.  The absolute hadest part was working out 3-D geometry.  I had to make my own template and it took me about 45 minutes to perfect the positioning on the ball!  I am so glad my children were at school or they would have heard some very creative and very bad words.

Wild Side

This RUSH job (slapped together the morning of her party) was for my daughter's 6th birthday.  Cake design was a collaborative effort between my daughter and husband as I was a bit preoccupied with moving preparations, life, other (paying) cake orders, etc.  You know how the cobbler's children have no new shoes?  Yeah.

Awesome concept and the safari animals and desert trees encircle the cake.  But just looking at that wrinkly bow is making me break out in a sweat.  I am so sorry baby girl!
